The Stone City Scenic Area is along the two banks of Qinhuai River and
is to the west of the inner Nanjing City. In Qing Dynasty, the scenes
here from the Xishui Pass to the mouth of Changjiang River are so beautiful
and scenic spots are numerous. Of the Forty-eight Scenes formed during
the Qing Dynasty, 7 were found in the western part of the city. After
the Qing Dynasty, many scenes began to vanish. However, ruins are still
there, and it is still a good place for tourists to come to track relics
and investigate the hidden secrets as well as to express their yearnings
for the ancient times.
